DUO 92 is made up of composer/pianist Matthew Quayle and cellist Jameson Platte. Since our first performance in 2005 we have been committed to spontaneity, invention, and emotional investment in live musical performance. We do not seek to arrive at a static, replicable version of any given piece; rather, the possibilities of the music are explored and renegotiated between us in every performance. This we have in common with many artists of an older, Romantic generation – and yet this approach also paves the way forward. We enjoy adventurous, eclectic programming combining the old and the new. Matt composes music for our duo, and both of us arrange music for our recitals. We often speak between pieces on a concert, establishing an interactive and warm rapport with our audience. Our recent engagements include The Grove Street Chamber Music Series, Merkin Hall, The Glens Falls Music Bridge Festival, New York University and the Montclair Art Museum.
